Previous experience and employment as a performer includes: BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Reggae Philharmonic Orchestra, Scottish Ballet, The Scottish Ensemble, Music Theatre, Nigel Kennedy, Ziggy Marley, The ‘I Threes’, Omar and as a Session Musician with various bands; also invitations to perform with Soul to Soul, Sakomoto and on two Hollywood film tracks.
As a Consultant, Music Tutor, Coach, Researcher, Assistant (Editorial, Personal and Events Management), Writer and Co-ordinator, Flora has worked in: TV, Education, Property, Media, Fashion, Health, Finance, Administration, Mental Health and The Music Industry - with children, amateurs, semi-professionals and professionals - including CEOs, Directors, Managers, Lawyers, Producers, Musicians, Engineers, Authors, Models, Students, a Justice of the Peace (JP), Head of the House of Lords, Mayor of London, Politicians, Therapists, The government’s National Music Participation Director and a Celebrity Coach.
Flora specialises in, and enjoys assisting students and clients keen to progress holistically in and through music, songs, the arts and entertainment; also as a music, development and wellbeing researcher. In 2007, she co-wrote the mini-guide ‘Be Connected, Stay Connected’ with Simon Edwards that was commended by the Chairman of Governors at the London Business School. From this she developed a unique approach to supporting and assisting students and clients.
She studied Coaching and Stress Management with Gladeana McMahon (Channel 4 and GMTV Stress Coach) and Professor Stephen Palmer respectively - who are considered to be among the top ten coaches in the UK.
Flora works (as a Consultant Coach and Researcher) with a team of professionals, consultants and practitioners to ensure her clients receive the best support available. She is also able to assist clients with various Music Services - including as a Consultant Coach, Music Tutor, Lyricist, Vocal Producer, Violinist and Vocalist.
Other credentials: Flora is CRB checked x2 (as a Consultant and Music Tutor), worked as a hair model [as a teenager]; trained in First Aid, a Health and Safety Rep for the Musicians Union, fully insured and a member of BASCA (British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors) and Musicians Union. Flora Finch BA DipMan Post. Cert. RSAMD is an award-winning musician and assistant/administrator - and recognised researcher.
Flora's career began as a professional musician further to studying violin, voice and basic piano. She qualified with a degree in Music Performance and Certificate in Orchestral Studies from Glasgow University and The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, Scotland. At the Academy she won two prizes: The Dunbar Gerber Recital prize for violin and piano and The Chamber Music prize with her string quartet.
She later studied violin and coaching skills with Anne Crowden - a professor at the University of California (Berkeley), Leonard Friedman (former leader of the Scottish Baroque Ensemble) and Jerre Gibson - violinist with The New York City Opera and Leader of the 2nd violins with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. Flora also studied voice with various including Lore Lixenberg and Patricia McMahon.
Flora's taste in music is very eclectic and as a performer and recording artist has so far worked with a variety of orchestras, bands and artists (covering many different genres) - including the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Scottish Ballet, Opera, Musicals, Bhangra, Oriental, Folk, Country, Pop, Soul, Rock, The Scottish Ensemble, The Reggae Philharmonic Orchestra, Omar, Ziggy Marley and The I Threes (Bob Marley's son and backing vocalists). Other invitations received include Sakamoto, Soul to Soul and on recordings in LA and New York for two Hollywood films.
Flora successfully changed career path and studied Business Administration, Financial Record Keeping, Basic Management Skills, Coaching (with Gladeana McMahon), Stress Management (with Professor Stephen Palmer), Office and Supervisory Management, PA skills and Studio Production. This development resulted in numerous opportunities and progress - including praise and encouragement for her voice and songwriting from Maria Friedman (Triple-Olivier award winner) and Deborah Mollison (Film Composer for East is East etc.).
Also received - offers to work for several reputable companies, including Channel 4, Film4, Sadler's Wells, London & Lisbon (who won an award for best golf course in Europe) and as Personal Assistant to the Head of Tax and Accounting at The British Land Company Plc - who in 2007 were the largest company in the United Kingdom (by assets) and the largest real estate company in Europe (by assets). Also, Flora has previously won the Temp of The Month award for her contributions at Channel 4.
She has conducted comprehensive research for over a decade, initially to support her work in Music and Business, and to assist her clients and students needing career development/change and employment. The popularity of her training lead to requests to compile the research into the mini-guide 'Be Connected, Stay Connected', co-written with Simon Edwards (Counsellor, Tai Chi Instructor and Artist). The guide received much praise including from The Chairman of Governors at The London Business School, who's also on the board at The Royal Academy of Music (London).
Flora assists those seeking to improve performance with a speciality in enabling them to maximise and develop their music, creative and business skills alongside improving their income and wellbeing. The training is tailor-made and supports effective management, self-motivation, planning and marketing through improved communication and relations with self and others.
Flora is a member of the Musicians Union, British Academy of Songwriters and Composers - and member of the team at Ritzy Picturehouse.
